Wizkid to celebrate his 24th birthday on private yacht in Miami

StarBoy entertainment boss, Wizkid is hoping to make his 24th birthday the biggest and most memorable ever; the Pop star is planning to host a birthday gig on private yacht in Miami.

Wizzy turns 24-years-old on July 16 but says he’ll be turning up on July 27, a day after his Live Nation concert in New York. He also says a lucky fan will be joining him.

‘My Birthday party is about to be mental! yaaaaa!!!! A lucky Wizkid fan gets to attend my private yacht party on the 27th of July in Miami. I’ll be picking a fan at the NYC Concert on the 26th (sic)’, Wizzy wrote on his Twitter.

Solange speaks on the Jay Z elevator beatdown

In her first interview since the infamous Jay Z beat down inside the elevator at the Met Gala, Solange Knowles finally addresses the incident. In an interview with Lucky Magazine Solange downplays the fight, telling Lucky,

“What’s important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”

Some reports claim that after the staged reconciliation photos of Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange were put out to make it seem all is forgiven, Jay Z has banned Solange from coming anywhere near him in public.

Imo State police arrests 25 undergraduate cult students [Photos]

The Imo state Police command yesterday July 6th paraded 25 suspected and prospective cult members of some polytechnics in Imo state, including the Alvan Ikoku College of Education and Imo state Polytechnic.

The Police acting on a tip off from residents of Emi village in Owerri North local government area stormed the Emi river at about 3.30am when initiation process for new members was being carried out. The young men were arrested after a gun battle with the police. Marijuana, weapons and all manner of charms were found with them. Continue...

However, some of the students who were arrested said they were being initiated against their will. One of them, Emenike Lawrence (pictured above) said he followed one of his friend out to see another friend who had promised to buy them drink and it was when they got to the bar that he was beaten and taken to a forest for initiation

"I went out with one of his friend who said I should follow him to go and see someone, a friend of his. I escorted him because he said that his friend is going to buy us drink and that if we drink we would come back, that is at Mission side. We reached there, some boys came out and started beating me. They took me inside a very big forest and then started beating us. That was their form of initiation before the police came and started shooting gun." he said

Speaking about the arrest, the Imo State Commissioner of police said Abdulmajid Ali said;

"They call them cult but I see them as potential armed robbers, kidnappers. These are guys that are being initiated into this kind of horrendous crime. We are trying to see if we can link them to the robbery, kidnap and murder cases that we are investigating at the moment. Although some of them will be identified by some of the victims.

D'banj presents Bono with over 2million 'Do Agric Petition' signatures

In January 2014 during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, D'banj helped launch the Do Agric Petition. A petition that calls on leaders for more and better investment in Agriculture. D'banj was the first to publicly sign the petition.

In April, he led 19 of Africa's top artists to record the hit song "Cocoa Na Chocolate" to promote the petition and help rebrand Agriculture among Africa's youth.

The campaign has been a great success as over 2 million Africans from every African country has signed the petition.

D'banj recently met with ONE co-founder Bono and presented him the petition in recognition of the way he has inspired Africans themselves to lead the fight for change in Africa.

Vincent Enyeama received $130,000 as 2014 World Cup appearance fee

According to reports, Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and a few other players received $130,000 ( N21 million) each as appearance fee for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“It was not a flat rate, but some of the players like Enyeama, who were involved in both the qualifiers as well as the World Cup in Brazil got as much as $130,000,” an official told AfricanFootball.com.

The money is outside the match bonus and daily allowances they were paid. Team officials were also reportedly not left out as some of them received $25,000. But According to the football site, there were disagreements over the money, particularly as regards whether those who qualified the team for Brazil 2014 should also get part of the appearance fee.

“There was a big issue among the senior players whether those who were part of the qualifiers should also get something. At the end of the day, Joseph Yobo prevailed that they also have to be included. So, even some players like John Utaka & Raheem Lawal, who played just a couple of qualifiers, will also get something” An official said.

Shocking: Corpse of Bank Manager found hanging in an uncompleted building after he went missing for 3 weeks

The body of Habib Olatunde (pictured above), a bank manager of an undisclosed Nigerian bank, has been found two weeks and six days after he was declared missing by the police. Late Mr Olatunde's body was found hanging in an uncompleted building at Arepo in Ogun state on Saturday July 5th around 5pm. Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Force PRO, Nigeria Police Force, revealed this.

It's one thing for a woman not to be able to have kids but when a woman who can have kids says she doesn't want them, I do a double take. Actress Cameron Diaz, 41, told the August edition of Esquire Magazine that kids were not on her agenda.

"It’s so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for - I didn’t take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby - that’s all day, every day for 18 years. Not having a baby might really make things easier, but that doesn’t make it an easy decision'.

63 women and girls escape from Boko Haram

A high-level security source in Borno, who requested to be anonymous, confirmed escape of 63 women to news agency. 63 women out of 70 women who were reported to have been abducted by Boko Haram men in Borno state between June 12th – June 14th have regained their freedom. Reports by government sources as well as members of the Borno state vigilante group confirmed their escape.

Abbas Gava, a local vigilante told to AFP, “I received an alert from my colleagues … that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home”.

An official of the Borno state vigilante group, Abbas Gava while confirming the escape to journalists in Borno, said the women made the bold move to escape yesterday Saturday July 5th while the sect men were attacking a military base in Damboa.

“I have just received an alert from my colleagues in Damboa area that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home. They took the bold step when their abductors moved out to carry out an operation. We don’t have the details of their escape yet, but we believe God gave them the opportunity at the time the insurgents came in their large numbers to attack Damboa where about 12 soldiers, five policemen, over 50 Boko Haram members and unspecified number of civilians were killed yesterday (Saturday).”he said. Mr. Gava also said five women and two girls are currently still with the sect men, adding that one of the women is said to be a nursing mother.

A security official who also spoke with Premium Times anonymously confirmed the escape of the women

“There is no doubt about your report; the women and girls were able to escape. I guess it was during the time the gunmen were attacking Damboa, left behind just some few men to watch over the women, but the women took advantage of an opportunity when the guys were dozing off, and bolted away but quietly” the source said. The source also added that some of the escaped women found themselves on the border towns between Adamawa and Borno state and have been taken into custody by the soldiers there. Some others who knew the terrain of the bushes were able to find their way home.
